About Me: Christopher (Krys) Méndez

I’m a scholar, researcher, and political educator who has dedicated over ten years to fighting for racial and economic justice in its various forms.

As a doctoral student in Ethnic Studies at UC San Diego, my research broadly examines the intersection of race, space, and political economy. Specifically, my focus has centered on the impacts of drug war capitalism, urban counterinsurgency and everyday militarism in Central America, Mexico, and the United States.

As the child of two working-class immigrants from Honduras and Puerto Rico, I was born and raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and have worked in various social justice campaigns in New York City, San Diego, and Providence, RI since 2006.
